Good Morning Tuey,
Thanks again for taking the time to listen to my proposal yesterday. We believe we have created a really special event for girls golf and are excited about honoring your Mom in conjunction with the tournament.
The Swing for the Cure is held on October 2nd and 3rd at Brackenridge Golf Course here in San Antonio. It is the only 54 hole girls event in the state and is attended by the elite girls golf teams across Texas. Allen, Southlake Carroll, Montgomery, Lake Travis, Westlake and Andrews are just a few of the teams represented that are either reigning state champions or have been.
Although the level of competition is at a premium, we have added another dimension to this event that separates it from all of the other tournaments. We ask that each team bring an extra $250 ($50 per girl) that hopefully they have had to sacrifice a little to raise, and that money has gone to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. We have presented checks ranging from $2,000 to $3,000 for the past 7 years. Although that has been a worthy and deserving charity, we want that donation to go to an organization/person more tied to golf; something the kids can relate to. We can think of no other more deserving name than Judy Rankin.
Your Mom has more than earned her place in golf history. We want these girls to know that if it were not for ladies like herself, they likely would not be where they are today, they owe Mrs. Rankin a debt of gratitude and this is their opportunity to do that. She has battled and won the fight against cancer herself and done so with great toughness, class and dignity. It is our hope that our donation will go to a charity that is breast cancer/cancer related in her name. We have no other expectations, we just want to honor and thank her and send a little donation to fight breast cancer.
Please let us know the name of the charity she chooses and wish her well for all of us. It is our promise that every girl in attendance know and appreciate the name of Judy Rankin and what she has done for them.
